We would like to design a trip across the mediterranean sea. For this, we are going t0 put maps and photos about it. We hope you would like our post!

To start, we have to say that the Mediterranean is a sea of the Atlantic Ocean, sorrounded by the Mediterranean Region, and it covers about 2.5 million km2; but the connection to the Atlantic is only 14 km wide.

In Europe, eleven states have a coastline with the mediterranean: Spain, France, Monaco, Italy, Malta, Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Albania, Greece and Turkey.

Having to account this, we think that interesting sites to visit are Spain (Costa Brava), Malta, Croatia and Italy. In addition, our trip in a very big part is going to be from Spain, because we know more things about it.

Instead of writting here all the information we have added some new internet links where you can find every type of information about the places we have recomend.

CROATIA

Croatia officially the Republic of Croatia (Republika Hrvatska is a Central Europe country at the crossroads of Pannonian Plain, Southeast Europe, and the Mediterranean Sea.

Croatia is located between South-Central Europe and Middle Europe. Its shape resembles that of a crescent or a horseshoe, which flanks its neighbours Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Montenegro. To the north lie Slovenia and Hungary; Italy lies across the Adriatic Sea. Its mainland territory is split in two non-contiguous parts by the short coastline of Bosnia and Herzegovina around Neum.

Since the adoption of the 1990 Constitution, Croatia has been a democracy. Between 1990 and 2000 it had a semi-presidential system, and since 2000 it has a parliamentary system.

The President of the Republic (Predsjednik) is the head of state, directly elected to a five-year term and is limited by the Constitution to a maximum of two terms. In addition to being the commander in chief of the armed forces, the president has the procedural duty of appointing the Prime minister with the consent of the Parliament, and has some influence on foreign policy. His official residence is Predsjednički dvori. Apart from that he has summer residences on the islands of Vanga (Brijuni islands) and the island of Hvar.

Primary education in Croatia starts at the age of six or seven and consists of eight grades. In 2007 a law was passed to increase free but not compulsory education until eighteen years of age. Compulsory education consists of eight grades ( Elementary School ) Secondary education is provided by gymnasiums and vocational schools.

Croatia has seven universities, the University of Zagreb, University of Split, University of Rijeka, University of Osijek, University of Zadar, University of Dubrovnik and the University of Pula. The University of Zadar, the first University in Croatia, was founded in 1396 and remained active until 1807, when other institutions of higher education took over until the foundation of the renewed University of Zadar in 2002. The University of Zagreb, founded in 1669, is the oldest continuously operating University in Southeastern Europe. There are also polytechnic higher education institutions.

Croatian culture is the result of a fourteen century-long history which has seen the development of many cities and monuments. The country includes seven World Heritage sites and eight national parks. Croatia is also the birthplace of a number of historical figures. Included among the notable people are three Nobel prize winners and numerous inventors.

Some of the world’s first fountain pens came from Croatia. Croatia also has a place in the history of clothing as the origin of the necktie (kravata). The country has a long artistic, literary and musical tradition. Also of interest is the diverse nature of Croatian cuisine.

It has been a little bit difficult to understand tihs information, but apart from this also really good to improve our knowledge about European of a year of creativity. We know that Europe has evolved not only politically, also in social and economical point of view. In addition, all the important cities have one thing in common: they work together inside European parliament, European Commission and European Council.

European Parliament: The 785 Members of the European Parliament are there to represent you, the citizen. They are elected once every five years by voters right across the 27 Member States of the European Union on behalf of its 492 million citizens.

Parliament plays an active role in drafting legislation which has an impact on the daily lives of its citizens.

European Commission: The European Commission embodies and upholds the general interest of the Union and is the driving force in the Union’s institutional system. Its four main roles are to propose legislation to Parliament and the Council, to administer and implement Community policies, to enforce Community law and to negotiate international agreements, mainly those relating to trade and cooperation.

European Council: Founded in 1949, the Council of Europe seeks to develop throughout Europe common and democratic principles based on the European Convention on Human Rights and other reference texts on the protection of individuals. It has got 47 countries inside.

It is a good idea a project of a year of creativity because help people deciding what they want to learn for having a future, also to improve their culture.

It can be good idea to decorate a house using fournitures that saw how our culture is. With this we can demostrate to people of other countries how their culture is not the only one and all cultures in Europe are differents to the others and as good as the others.

Bye!!!!!!!!!
